In this\u00a0article we look at the procedure for marriage certificate\u00a0in Delhi and the documents required and charges.<\/p>\n<p>Marriage Registration Certificate is issued to\u00a0both Husband and Wife whose\u00a0marriage has\u00a0already been solemnised. The Registration is done under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The Hindu Marriage Act is applicable in cases where both husband and wife are Hindus, Buddhists, Jains or Sikhs or where they have converted into any of these religions.<\/p>\n<h4>Marriage under Hindu Marriage Act<\/h4>\n<p>In case of application for marriage certificate under Hindu Marriage Act, verification of all the documents related to both the parties are carried out on the date of application and a certain day is fixed for registration.\u00a0On the day, of registration both parties together with witnesses\u00a0who attended their marriage should be present to complete the formalities.<\/p>\n<h4>Marriage under Special Marriage Act<\/h4>\n<p>Both parties \u2013 Groom\u00a0&amp; Bride need to be present after submission of documents for the issuance of public notice thereby inviting objections.\u00a0Also one copy of wedding notice would\u00a0be displayed on the notice board of the office and copy of the notice would be\u00a0sent by registered post to both parties i.e. the Groom\u00a0&amp; Bride,\u00a0to the address given by them.<\/p>\n<p>In case of no objections, registration is conducted thirty days after the notice date. Both parties and three witnesses are required to be present on the registration date.<\/p>\n<h2>Marriage Registration \u2013 Witness Requirement<\/h2>\n<p>Marriage certificate applicants are required\u00a0to take a witness along with them. \u00a0A Witness can be anyone who is the holder of an Aadhaar card or PAN card or other acceptable proof as per the list of documents above.
